Jivdaya Setu (“we”, “us”) is a donation platform connecting donors with verified Panjrapols (cow shelters) and sanghs across India. This policy explains what information we collect through the Jivdaya Setu mobile app and website (jivdayasetu.org), why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, phone number, and email address, used to create and secure your account. Phone numbers are verified with a one-time password sent by SMS.
- Donation records — the amount, date, payment reference, and recipient of donations you record on the platform. We use these to build your donation history and to generate 80G tax receipts. We never hold or move your money: payments go directly from you to the shelter.
- Shelter verification data — if you register an organisation, we collect its legal documents (registration, PAN, 80G certificate, bank proof), photographs, and the location of the shelter, used solely to verify the organisation and show donors it is genuine.
- Photos and documents you upload — requirement photos, expense bills, and utilization reports, shown to donors as proof of how funds were used.
- Location — the app asks for location only during shelter geo-verification and volunteer inspections, to confirm a shelter exists where it claims to. Donors are never location-tracked.
- Device information for notifications — a push notification token (via Google Firebase) so we can send you updates you have opted into.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
- We do not show donors’ personal details publicly. Shelters see the name attached to a donation so they can confirm receiving it.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not hold or move donor funds.
Who can see what
Verified shelter profiles — including their documents’ verification status, photos, needs, and utilization proof — are visible to donors; that transparency is the point of the platform. Your own account details are visible only to you and to our administrators. Volunteer inspection reports are visible to our administrators and summarised in the shelter’s public trust record.
Third-party services
- MSG91 — delivers OTP SMS to your phone number.
- Google Firebase — delivers push notifications.
- Google Maps — displays shelter locations in the app.
Each of these receives only the minimum needed to provide its service and is governed by its own privacy policy.
Retention and security
Donation and receipt records are retained as required for tax and audit purposes under Indian law. Verification documents are retained while an organisation remains on the platform. All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and OTP codes are stored hashed and expire within minutes.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile details in the app.
- You can turn off push notifications in the app or in your device settings.
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data; records we must keep by law (such as issued tax receipts) are retained in anonymised or minimal form.
Children
Jivdaya Setu is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially we will update this page and note the new date above. For any question or request about your data, write to chiragmshah@gmail.com.
